(R750, Galleria Gibello)
Art photography seems to be growing in popularity in South Africa and wildlife in particular has become a favourite theme for fine art photographers.
Those people who are familiar with Caroline Gibello will recognise her style and touch immediately in this work. Each spread is special and captures the African landscape and its wildlife with finesse. The book is exceptionally printed on 100 per cent recycled art paper and is a fantastic celebration of the photographic medium and Caroline’s fine art images.
If there is a fault in the work it’s that the anthology doesn’t hang together as a story (one of the challenges in producing a bound collection) as much as it is a collection of superb individual photographs. Having said that, it’s a fabulous book that will find a happy home with people who celebrate different photographic approaches to familiar subjects.
